About

I have over seven years of experience working in Unity Engine as a designer and programmer.

Projects

Lead programmer for ‘The Inn Between’ - An ambitious project that unfortunately did not get successful funding. The ~10 Hour gameplay demo of the ‘Prologue’ for the game is still available on Steam.

Currently a software developer with Tyler Technologies, working on updates to one of their .NET applications and managing small web updates.

A passion for creativity

Ever since I was a kid I have been finding ways to create my own gameplay experiences. Any game with an editor of some sort would catch my attention, from Halo’s ‘Forge’ map tool to the track editor of Trackmania (of which multiple tracks of mine have been added to the game’s official campaign).

As an adult, I have found myself needing to apply my skills to more personal projects — These are things that I have helped to build from the ground up, with the freedom to succeed or fail on my own terms. I love finding solutions to problems that I didn’t know existed. Being able to work through difficult situations is a skill I pride myself on, and a skill I use often when building my own games from the ground up.

Coming out of college, I was eager to work on a project of my own. With VR having just released to the public, a few college friends and I set out to make something, however small it may be. A few months later our first project was released, a VR game called ‘Trickshot’. It didn’t bring in a ton of money, but it showed we could complete something, and we knew it was only up from there.

After our initial project, we experimented with a few different genres, never getting much past a prototyping stage. We had ideas we wanted to pursue, but we realized we were biting off a bit more than we could chew with the money we had access to. We learned a lot with these projects, but unfortunately they probably wont be seeing the light for a while.

For the next 3 years I was working on a new project. We realized pretty quickly into development that we had once again bitten off more than we could chew, but this time it felt different. We felt like we had really fallen into something, and after working on a prototype and reworking mechanics a few times we ended up pretty proud of what our small team had accomplished. — I would have loved to be able to continue supporting that project, but our funding had run dry and we were finding it difficult to pursue without additional support. Ultimately I had to make the decision to leave the team and pursue other endeavors.

Below is a small selection of gameplay elements from that project. Most of the gameplay scripting and core gameplay components were built by me, including the UI and some of the smaller effects. I am not the most fantastic artist out there, but I am comfortable working with Unity’s systems for helping bring elements of gameplay to life through things like particle effects and shaders.

I haven’t had the opportunity to work on games outside of a few smaller personal projects since my time with ‘No Rules Make Game’ came to an end, but I am eager to find a new project to work on.

I am currently a Software Developer with Tyler Technologies. Working with more traditional programming landscapes has helped to broaden my horizons with what I feel comfortable working on, including development with .NET, Amazon Web Services and even a bit of Web development.

If you are interested in a game developer for an upcoming or ongoing project, please feel free to email me. I can answer any questions and show you a more detailed look into the projects I have worked on.
